Why I built doctorrating.in
For as long as I can remember, getting the right care in India has been a struggle — not because we lack good doctors, but because patients are so often left alone to navigate a system that can feel stacked against them.
I have watched this my whole life. I have seen friends suffer, unsure whether they were getting honest advice or the right treatment. I have been admitted to hospitals myself and seen the same problems from the inside — confusion, no clear answers, and nowhere to turn when something went wrong.
The moment that changed everything for me was when my own children were admitted to one of the country’s most reputed hospitals. I saw the mismanagement first-hand. And when it was time to bring them home, the insurance approval would not come through — my kids were effectively held back amid the paperwork and the chaos. Standing there as a father, I realised how powerless even an informed, capable person can be made to feel. There was no platform, no place, that could step in and help me find relief.
That is why doctorrating.in exists.
This platform is built for patients and for doctors — both sides, held in fair balance. Patients can share honest reviews of the care they received. Doctors can respond and be heard. The purpose is not to shame anyone; it is to bring transparency, fairness, and a little more power to the person lying in the hospital bed and the family waiting outside.
I want to be clear about one thing: I am not building this to make money. I have been fortunate in my life, and this is my way of giving back to the society that has given me so much. If this platform helps even one family avoid what mine went through, it will have been worth every effort.
Care should not be a matter of luck. Let us make it fairer — together.
