Anger is understandable. Sending it to the wrong authority wastes months. This guide helps you route, prepare, and file — yourself.

Something went wrong at a clinic or hospital. You want accountability. The first decision is not how angry the letter sounds — it is which door can actually act.
doctorrating.in helps you prepare and route a complaint. You file it in your own name.We never file on your behalf and never publish your allegations. Use ourComplaints tool when you are ready to draft.
Step 1 — Name the problem type
- Negligence / professional misconduct → State Medical Council (where the doctor is registered).
- Overbilling, refund, deficient service → Consumer helpline / Consumer Commission (e-Jagriti). See how to check a hospital bill.
- Dirty wards, facility failures, admin neglect → state grievance portals (e.g. CM Window) / health department.
- Bad medicine / pharmacy → State FDA / Drugs Controller.
- Cashless / claim delay or denial → insurer grievance → IRDAI / Ombudsman (see our insurance guide).
- Suspected illegal practice → Civil Surgeon / anti-quackery cell + police — after a careful register check. Do not accuse on social media.
One complaint, one correct doorway. Scatter-gun emails to every inbox usually help no one.
Step 2 — Pick the right authority
Open the Complaints page for verified contacts and how-to notes. Contacts there were checked for common Haryana / national channels; if you are in another state, use the sametype of authority (your State Medical Council, your state consumer commission, your state FDA).
Some councils charge a fee to accept a complaint (for example a demand draft). That is controversial — read Should justice cost ₹500?and always confirm the current rule before you pay.
Step 3 — Gather evidence
- Bills, receipts, insurance approvals / rejections
- Prescriptions, discharge summary, lab reports
- Photos, WhatsApp / SMS threads, call logs (dates matter)
- A one-page timeline: what happened, when, who said what
- Doctor registration check via Verify (upload Rx if you have it)
Step 4 — Write calmly, file yourself
Stick to facts. Name the relief you want (investigation, refund, apology, corrective action). Attach copies, keep originals. Send through the official portal, email, or post — and save the acknowledgment / tracking number.
Our Complaints composer formats a draft for you to copy into your email or portal. It is not sent by us and not stored by us.

Quick FAQ
Will doctorrating.in file my complaint for me?
No. We help you prepare and route it. You file it yourself with the authority, in your own name. We never publish your allegations.
Where should I complain about medical negligence?
Usually the State Medical Council where the doctor is registered. Wrong venue is why many complaints go nowhere.
What about overbilling or refunds?
Those are often consumer matters — start with the National Consumer Helpline (1915) and e-Jagriti for formal cases.
Do I need to pay to complain?
It depends on the authority. Some medical councils charge a fee (e.g. demand draft). Consumer and many government portals are free or low-cost. See our ₹500 opinion piece and confirm current rules before you file.
